Local rates, no airport markups
Direct prices from trusted Sporades partners at JSI; what you book is exactly what you pay at the desk — no surprise summer-season surcharges.
JSI Airport handover
All pickups and returns happen at Skiathos Airport (JSI), the only gateway to the island — meet your car as soon as you step out of arrivals, just minutes from Skiathos Town.
Rent without Credit Card
We provide the supplier's direct Premium Insurance (Zero Excess), so you don't need a credit card for a deposit. Pay with cash or debit on arrival at the airport.
Real Insurance, No Middlemen Claims
Unlike other brokers, you are insured directly by the car rental company. No 'pay and claim' reimbursement headaches on Skiathos's narrow coastal roads or forest tracks.
Fleet for beach-hopping
Compact cars for tight Chora lanes, small SUVs for unpaved tracks to Mandraki and Elias, automatics for relaxed Koukounaries beach runs.
Pine-backed golden beaches, Venetian-era landmarks, and a charming island capital — all a short drive from where you land.

Wander the whitewashed lanes of Skiathos Town, climb the small Bourtzi peninsula for panoramic harbor views, and dine at waterfront tavernas under bougainvillea.

Skiathos's iconic 1.2 km crescent of golden sand backed by a protected pine forest and the Strofilia lagoon — consistently ranked among the best beaches in Europe.

Cluster of sandy coves on the southwestern tip of Skiathos — Banana for buzz, Little Banana for nudist seclusion, Agia Eleni for sunsets.

Historic 18th-century monastery in the pine-covered interior — birthplace of the modern Greek flag, raised here in 1807. Free entry, peaceful gardens, and a small museum.
Skiathos is compact but packed — from your airport pickup, the wildest beaches and most photogenic spots are all within a short, scenic drive.

20 min one way
Drive the south coast road through Achladies, Vasilias, Vromolimnos, Platanias, and Maratha to reach Koukounaries, Banana, and Agia Eleni — the classic Skiathos beach-hopping route.

25–35 min one way
Cross the island via the central road, then follow forest tracks down to the wilder northern beaches of Mandraki, Elias, and Megalos Aselinos — sandy, breezy, and far quieter than the south.

30–40 min one way (plus short hike)
Drive to the northern tip of Skiathos and walk down to Kastro, the abandoned medieval capital perched on a dramatic sea cliff — followed by a swim at the secluded cove below.

Park & ferry from Skiathos port
Park at Skiathos port and catch a fast ferry to Skopelos to see the iconic Agios Ioannis Kastri church from Mamma Mia, Glysteri beach, and the chora's stone lanes — a perfect Sporades day trip.
JSI is famously short — plan kerbside
Skiathos Airport has one of the shortest commercial runways in Europe and a single small terminal. Rental desks are just outside arrivals — share your flight number so your Karpadu agent is waiting the moment you exit.
Skiathos Town parking
The old town is pedestrianized. Use the free seafront lots near the new port or the lot opposite the Bourtzi, then walk in — never try to squeeze into the narrow Chora lanes.
Narrow coastal road in summer
The south coast road from town to Koukounaries gets busy from 10:00 onwards in July and August. Set off early to beach, or go after 16:00 to enjoy quieter roads.
North-coast forest tracks
Roads to Mandraki, Elias, and Aselinos are partly unpaved. A compact car can handle them dry; after rain, a small SUV is safer. Never drive off marked tracks — it voids all insurance.
Watch for low-flying planes
The road past JSI runway is a famous plane-spotting spot. Drive slowly: pedestrians often stop to watch landings just feet above the road.
Cash for tavernas & beach bars
Cards work in Chora, Koukounaries, and Banana, but bring small cash for beach-bar sunbeds, family tavernas in the interior, and the monastery donation box.
When you choose Premium Insurance (Zero Excess), the rental supplier waives the security deposit entirely. You can pay by debit card or cash at the Skiathos airport desk — no credit card needed. Everything is covered directly through the supplier, so there's no 'pay and claim' process when you rent a car in Skiathos.
It's real, direct insurance from the car rental company in Skiathos. Unlike many brokers who sell 'reimbursement' policies requiring a credit card deposit upfront, our Premium Insurance means zero deposit and zero paperwork in the rare event of damage on Skiathos's narrow coastal roads or forest tracks to Mandraki and Kastro.
All pickups and returns happen at Skiathos 'Alexandros Papadiamantis' Airport (JSI) only — the single airport on the island. We do not currently offer pickup at Skiathos port, Chora, or hotels. Your Karpadu agent meets you kerbside outside arrivals as soon as you exit — no shuttle bus required since the terminal is tiny.
Absolutely. Although Skiathos is only about 12 km long, the best beaches — Mandraki, Elias, Megalos Aselinos, Kastro — are spread across the island and not well served by buses. With a car you can chase sunsets, reach quiet northern coves, and avoid waiting in summer beach-bus queues.
Most rental contracts do NOT allow taking the car on ferries to other Sporades islands. The car must stay on Skiathos. If you want to visit Skopelos (Mamma Mia island) or Alonissos, park at Skiathos port and use the foot-passenger ferries or hydrofoils — far cheaper and easier.
No tolls anywhere on Skiathos. Key rules: speed limit 50 km/h in town, 70 km/h on open roads; headlights recommended on the shaded forest sections; pedestrians have priority near beach exits; ATVs and scooters are everywhere in summer — keep extra distance.
For the paved south coast to Koukounaries, Banana, and Achladies, a compact or economy car is perfect. If you plan to reach Mandraki, Elias, Aselinos, or the Kastro trailhead via unpaved tracks, a small SUV or crossover gives extra clearance and confidence. Avoid any unmarked off-road paths — insurance won't cover damage there.
From JSI airport: Skiathos Town is 3–8 minutes, Koukounaries 15–20 minutes, Banana beach 15–20 minutes, Evangelistria Monastery 10–15 minutes, Mandraki 25–35 minutes, and Kastro 30–40 minutes plus a 15-minute walk down. The island is small but roads are winding — allow extra time in peak summer traffic.
Koukounaries has a large free lot at the entrance, Banana and Vromolimnos have smaller free lots, and Skiathos Town has free lots at both ports just outside the pedestrian zone. In high summer arrive before 10:30 at popular beaches and before 19:30 in Chora for evening dinner.
Book in minutes, choose flexible insurance with no deposit, and collect your car the moment you land at Skiathos Airport (JSI).
