Karpadu Terms of Use & Booking Policy

Introduction
These Terms and Conditions of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Karpadu website and services. By accessing and using our platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms. Karpadu reserves the right to unilaterally modify, add, or renew these Terms at any time without prior notice. If you do not agree with any part of the Terms, you must stop using our services immediately. Furthermore, if the website becomes temporarily unavailable due to technical issues or maintenance, Karpadu is not liable for any resulting financial losses, missed bookings, or disruptions.
Website Usage
Karpadu allows users to browse, compare, and book car rentals via third-party providers. By using our website, you acknowledge that:
- Only individuals aged 18 or over, or legal entities, may make bookings.
- You must comply with the specific age restrictions set by the rental provider, as minimum age requirements and 'Young Driver' surcharges vary by company.
- Karpadu reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time.
- You are responsible for ensuring the absolute accuracy of all information provided, including personal details, age, and driver’s license information.
Booking Agreement & Payment Terms
By making a booking through Karpadu, you agree to enter into a binding agreement with the selected car rental provider. Karpadu acts solely as an intermediary, facilitating reservations and payments between users and providers. The rental contract is between you and the rental provider. Karpadu is not liable for the condition, availability, or performance of vehicles. You acknowledge that:
- Payment may be required upfront, partially or in full.
- Your booking is confirmed only upon receipt of a confirmation email ('Voucher').
- You must read and agree to the rental provider’s specific terms before completing your booking.
- Currency & Exchange Rates: If you are required to pay a remaining balance at the rental desk, it will be charged in the local currency of the pick-up location. Karpadu is not responsible for any price discrepancies caused by currency fluctuations or bank conversion fees.
How to Book
To successfully book a vehicle through Karpadu, you must:
- Select your desired pick-up and drop-off locations.
- Choose a vehicle from the available options.
- Provide accurate personal information, including a valid driver’s license.
- Accept the Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, and Booking Policy.
- Make payment.
Vehicle Availability & Models ('Or Similar')
When booking a vehicle on Karpadu, please note that:
- Vehicle images displayed on our platform are for illustrative purposes only.
- You are booking a specific vehicle category or class (e.g., 'Compact', 'SUV', 'Economy'), not a guaranteed make, model, or color.
- If the specific vehicle class is unavailable at pick-up, the rental provider will typically upgrade you to a higher class at no extra cost. In the rare event of a downgrade, the provider will adjust your final price accordingly.
Requirements for Rental & Security Deposits
Payment and deposit requirements depend entirely on the specific rental provider and the offer you select. Our platform allows you to filter for providers that accept alternative payment methods (e.g., Cash, Debit Cards, or 'No Credit Card Required'). By booking, you acknowledge that:
- Unless explicitly stated otherwise in the specific offer you choose, the standard requirement at the rental desk is a valid physical Credit Card in the main driver's exact name with sufficient funds for a security deposit.
- If you select an offer that accepts Cash, Debit, or no deposit, you are bound by the specific terms and conditions of that individual offer, which will be detailed on your Booking Voucher.
- You must physically present a valid driver’s license and passport/ID card at pick-up.
Failure to provide the exact accepted payment method required by your chosen provider's terms, or failing a credit check at the time of pick-up, will result in a denied vehicle pick-up without a refund from Karpadu.
Cancellations, Refunds & Modifications
The following policies apply to cancellations and booking changes. Note that specific provider terms may supersede these.
- Cancellations made at least 48 hours before pick-up: Full refund.
- Failure to show up at pick-up ('No Show'): No refund will be issued. A 'No Show' includes arriving too late without notifying the provider.
- Misrepresentation: If you are denied a vehicle at pick-up because you provided false, inaccurate, or incomplete information (including lying about your age, identity, or license validity), Karpadu will not issue a refund.
- Refunds will be processed using the original payment method.
- To modify a booking, contact Karpadu or the rental provider directly. Modifications are subject to availability and may incur additional fees.
Insurance, Damage & Excess
Your booking may include basic coverages (such as Collision Damage Waiver), but an Excess (Deductible) usually applies. You acknowledge that:
- Any additional insurance or waivers purchased directly at the rental desk constitute a separate contract between you and the rental provider.
- Karpadu is not responsible for, and cannot refund, any extra insurance or local coverages bought at pick-up.
- Karpadu is not liable for any charges applied by the provider for vehicle damage, theft, or cleaning.
Driving Restrictions & The Rental Desk Contract
When picking up and driving your vehicle, you are bound by the physical contract and operational rules of your chosen rental provider:
- The Rental Desk Contract: At pick-up, you will sign a formal rental agreement directly with the local provider. You are solely responsible for reading and understanding what you sign. Any extra charges, upgrades, or local insurances you agree to and sign for at the desk are non-refundable by Karpadu.
- Paved Roads Only (No Off-Roading): Vehicles must only be driven on paved (asphalt) roads. Driving on unpaved, dirt, or off-road surfaces is strictly prohibited. Important: Even if you have purchased 'Full Insurance' or 'Zero Excess' coverage, driving on unpaved roads is a breach of contract that immediately voids ALL insurance coverages. You will be held 100% financially liable for any damages, towing costs, or undercarriage repairs.
- Fuel Policy: You must adhere to the provider's fuel policy (e.g., Full-to-Full). Refueling charges and admin fees will apply if the car is not returned as agreed.
- Mileage Limits: While many of our rental providers offer unlimited mileage (kilometers), some specific offers may have a daily or total distance limit. If your chosen offer includes a limit, extra charges will apply at drop-off if you exceed the stated allowance. Always check the specific terms of your Booking Voucher.
- Grace Periods, Flight Delays & Late Arrivals: We strongly advise providing your flight number during the booking process. If your flight is delayed, this allows the rental provider to track your arrival and hold the vehicle. However, arriving outside normal operating hours may still incur an 'out-of-hours' fee by the provider. If you arrive late and did not provide a flight number, the provider may classify your booking as a 'No Show' and release the vehicle to another customer. Karpadu is not liable for refunds in these situations.
Limitation of Liability
Karpadu is not responsible for:
- Service issues, cancellations, or fleet shortages caused by third-party providers.
- Any damage, loss, or accidents occurring during the rental period.
- Extra charges imposed by providers (e.g., for late return, fuel, tolls, traffic fines).
- Financial losses or indirect damages resulting from bookings made via our platform.
- Disruptions caused by force majeure events (e.g., natural disasters, pandemics, strikes).
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Karpadu, its directors, employees, and affiliates from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including legal fees) arising out of or related to:
- Your breach of these Terms.
- Your fraudulent actions or misrepresentation of information.
- Your violation of any law, traffic regulation, or the rights of a third party during your rental.
Privacy & Cookies
Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, which explain how we collect, store, and use your data. These policies form part of these Terms.
Intellectual Property
All content on the Karpadu website — including text, graphics, logos, and software — is owned by or licensed to Karpadu. Unauthorized use or reproduction of any content is strictly prohibited.
Dispute Resolution & Complaints
If you experience an issue during your rental, you must immediately contact the local rental provider. For unresolved issues after the rental finishes, you may contact our support team at [email protected]. Please note:
- Karpadu will only review complaints and refund requests submitted to us within 30 days of the final day of your rental.
- Any unresolved legal issues will be governed by the applicable laws of Greece.
