Local rates, no airport markups
Direct prices from trusted Samian partners at SMI; what you book is exactly what you pay at the desk — no surprise summer-season or charter-flight surcharges.
SMI Airport handover
All pickups and returns happen at Samos Airport (SMI), the main gateway to the island — meet your car as soon as you step out of arrivals, just minutes from Pythagorio.
Rent without Credit Card
We provide the supplier's direct Premium Insurance (Zero Excess), so you don't need a credit card for a deposit. Pay with cash or debit on arrival at the airport.
Real Insurance, No Middlemen Claims
Unlike other brokers, you are insured directly by the car rental company. No 'pay and claim' reimbursement headaches on Samos's mountain roads to Manolates, Karlovasi, or Mount Kerkis.
Fleet for coast, mountains & wine villages
Compact cars for tight Pythagorio lanes, small SUVs for winding routes to Manolates and Potami waterfalls, automatics for relaxed north-coast cruising to Kokkari.
Ancient temples, UNESCO engineering marvels, and beach towns — all a short drive from where you land.

Stroll the UNESCO-listed waterfront of Pythagoras's birthplace, dine at quayside tavernas, and admire the medieval Logothetis Tower over the ancient harbor mole.

UNESCO-listed sanctuary of the goddess Hera, once one of the largest temples of the ancient Greek world; a single surviving column still stands among scattered ruins on the coastal plain.

A 6th-century BC underground aqueduct dug straight through a mountain from both ends at once — one of the greatest engineering feats of antiquity, walkable today.

Sandy southeast-coast beaches just below the airport, with shallow turquoise water and clear views across to the Turkish coast — perfect for the first or last day.
Samos is bigger and greener than most Aegean islands — from your airport pickup, ancient sites, wine villages, waterfalls, and pebble coves are all an easy drive away.

25–30 min one way
Drive the scenic east coast to Vathy, the colorful capital wrapped around a deep bay, with the Archaeological Museum's giant Kouros and the traditional upper village of Ano Vathy.

40–50 min one way
Cross to the lush north coast for the postcard fishing village of Kokkari and the row of legendary pebble-and-turquoise beaches — Tsamadou, Lemonakia, Tsambou — under green mountain slopes.

55–65 min one way
Climb the slopes of Mount Ampelos to the stone-built villages of Manolates and Vourliotes — Samian Muscat tastings, mountain tavernas, and forested hiking trails above the Aegean.

65–80 min one way
Drive west to Samos's second town Karlovasi, then hike from Potami beach into the gorge to the natural rock pools and waterfalls — a refreshing summer day out.
SMI Airport handover
Samos Airport is small with a single terminal and separate gates for Schengen and non-Schengen flights. Share your flight number so the Karpadu agent is waiting kerbside the moment you exit arrivals.
Coast road to Vathy
The southeast coastal road from SMI to Vathy is scenic but winding through small villages. Allow 25–30 minutes and slow down on blind bends near Pyrgos and Mytilinii.
Mountain roads to Manolates
Routes up to Manolates, Vourliotes, and the Mount Ampelos wine villages are steep and narrow with hairpin turns. A compact car can manage, but a small SUV is more relaxed.
Pythagorio parking
The Pythagorio waterfront has paid parking and a free lot at the entrance to town near the windmill. Avoid driving into the narrow harbor lanes in summer evenings.
Turkey is 1.5 km away – don't try to ferry the car
Kuşadası and the Turkish coast are clearly visible from Samos, and ferries run daily from Vathy and Pythagorio. Rental cars must remain on Samos — you cannot take them across to Turkey.
Cash for villages & wineries
Cards work in Pythagorio, Vathy, Kokkari, and Karlovasi, but bring small cash for Manolates and Vourliotes kafenia, small wineries, monastery donations, and mountain tavernas.
When you choose Premium Insurance (Zero Excess), the rental supplier waives the security deposit entirely. You can pay by debit card or cash at the Samos airport desk — no credit card needed. Everything is covered directly through the supplier, so there's no 'pay and claim' process when you rent a car in Samos.
It's real, direct insurance from the car rental company in Samos. Unlike many brokers who sell 'reimbursement' policies requiring a credit card deposit upfront, our Premium Insurance means zero deposit and zero paperwork in the rare event of damage on the winding roads to Manolates, Karlovasi, or the Potami gorge.
All pickups and returns happen at Samos 'Aristarchos' International Airport (SMI) only — on the southeastern coast just outside Pythagorio. We do not currently offer pickup at Vathy port, Karlovasi port, or hotel addresses. Your Karpadu agent meets you kerbside outside arrivals as soon as you exit — no shuttle bus required since the terminal is tiny.
No. Rental cars must stay on Samos — you cannot take them on ferries to Turkey, Ikaria, Fourni, Patmos, or any other destination. If you plan to day-trip to Kuşadası from Vathy or Pythagorio, leave the car parked and walk on as a foot passenger.
Returns must be at Samos SMI Airport — the same location as pickup. One-way drop-offs at other islands or mainland airports are not currently available because Samos is an island. If your itinerary continues to Athens, Mykonos, or elsewhere, return the car at SMI before your onward flight.
For Pythagorio, the south coast, and the easy run to Heraion and the Eupalinian Tunnel, a compact or economy car is perfect. If you plan to explore Manolates, Vourliotes, Mount Kerkis trailheads, or the Potami waterfalls, a small SUV gives extra confidence on steep hairpin roads. Avoid unmarked off-road tracks — they void all insurance.
From Samos Airport: Pythagorio is 5–10 minutes, the Heraion 10–15 minutes, the Eupalinian Tunnel 10–15 minutes, Vathy (Samos Town) 25–30 minutes, Kokkari 40–50 minutes, Manolates and Vourliotes 55–65 minutes, and Karlovasi/Potami around 65–80 minutes. The whole island can be looped in a single long day.
No tolls anywhere on Samos. Key rules: speed limit 50 km/h in villages and 70–90 km/h on open roads, headlights are recommended on shaded mountain sections to Manolates, and goats and farm vehicles often appear on rural roads — drive slowly through bends and respect the 0.5‰ alcohol limit.
Yes, generally. Pythagorio has free and paid lots at the town entrance; Vathy has waterfront parking that fills by evening; Kokkari has small free lots a short walk from the village center. In high summer arrive before 10:30 at popular beaches like Tsamadou and Lemonakia, where roadside parking fills quickly.
Book in minutes, choose flexible insurance with no deposit, and collect your car the moment you land at Samos 'Aristarchos' International Airport (SMI).
