PVK is a small airport
Aktion National Airport has only a handful of stands. Rental desks are located just outside arrivals — your Karpadu agent will meet you kerbside, so no long shuttles.
Lefkada bridge timing
The floating bridge to Lefkada opens every hour on the hour for boats. In peak summer, expect 10–15 min waits — plan ferry-style arrivals around it.
Preveza underwater tunnel toll
The Aktio–Preveza underwater tunnel costs about €3 each way. Keep small change or a card ready at the toll booth right after leaving the airport.
Mountain roads to Epirus
Routes to Zagorohoria and the Vikos gorge are scenic but winding. Fuel up in Preveza or Ioannina, and avoid driving them after dark in winter.
Summer heat & beach traffic
July and August get hot and busy on the coastal road to Parga and Lefkada. Start road trips before 09:00 to enjoy beaches before the midday crowds.
Cash for tavernas & villages
Cards work in most of Preveza and Lefkada town, but bring a bit of cash for small Epirus villages, riverside tavernas at Glyki, and rural kiosks.

Yes — Lefkada is connected to the mainland by a short floating drawbridge just 5 minutes from PVK airport. There is no ferry or extra charge, and standard rental cars are fully covered on the island. Most travelers reach Nidri in 30 minutes and Porto Katsiki in around 75 minutes.
Yes. Many of our Epirus partners allow one-way rentals — for example, pick up at Preveza (PVK) and drop off at Corfu Airport (CFU), Ioannina Airport (IOA), or Athens Airport (ATH). Select different pickup and drop-off locations when searching and the exact one-way fees, if any, will be shown.
For Lefkada, Parga, and the coastal road, a compact or economy car is perfect and saves on fuel. If you plan to explore Zagorohoria, the Vikos gorge, or reach remote Acheron viewpoints via narrow mountain roads, a small SUV or crossover gives more confidence. Avoid unmarked off-road tracks — they void all insurance.
From PVK airport, Lefkada bridge is about 5–10 minutes, Nidri 30 minutes, and Porto Katsiki around 75 minutes. Parga is roughly 60–75 minutes north along the coastal road. The Acheron springs at Glyki are about 70–85 minutes. Zagorohoria and Ioannina are around 2 to 2.5 hours via the Ionia motorway (A5).
Yes, two small ones. The Aktio–Preveza underwater tunnel (about €3 each way) connects the airport side to Preveza town. The Ionia Odos (A5) motorway towards Ioannina also has tolls. The coastal road to Parga and the route to Lefkada are toll-free.
Preveza has free street parking outside the pedestrianized old town and a few paid lots near the seafront. In Lefkada town, look for the marina car parks; in summer, arrive before 10:00 in Nidri and Vasiliki. Always check sign restrictions to avoid fines, especially in narrow village lanes.
