Local rates, no port markups
Direct prices from trusted Epirus partners at Igoumenitsa port; what you book is exactly what you pay at the desk — no hidden ferry-arrival surcharges.
Igoumenitsa port handover
All pickups and returns happen at Igoumenitsa port, the main ferry gateway connecting Italy (Ancona, Bari, Venice, Brindisi), Corfu, and Paxos to mainland Greece.
Rent without Credit Card
We provide the supplier's direct Premium Insurance (Zero Excess), so you don't need a credit card for a deposit. Pay with cash or debit on arrival at the port — perfect for travelers landing off Italian ferries.
Real Insurance, No Middlemen Claims
Unlike other brokers, you are insured directly by the car rental company. No 'pay and claim' reimbursement headaches on the A2 Egnatia, the Zagori mountain roads, or the route to Meteora.
Fleet for coast & mountains
Compact cars for the coastal road to Parga and Sivota, SUVs for Zagorohoria and the Vikos gorge, automatics for relaxed long-distance Epirus cruising.
Blue-lagoon coves, Venetian-era fortresses, and Ionian beaches — all a short drive from where your ferry docks.

A long sandy beach right next to Igoumenitsa with shallow turquoise water — perfect for a swim before a long drive or after a night ferry from Italy.

A pretty fishing village just south of Igoumenitsa with seafront tavernas, calm pebble beaches, and views across to Corfu — ideal for an easy first or last night.

Walk the renovated promenade of Igoumenitsa, watch the international ferries arrive, and enjoy fresh fish at the old-port tavernas before heading inland.

Ruins of the ancient capital of the Thesprotians on a hillside above the Kalamas river — a quiet, free, atmospheric stop just outside Igoumenitsa.
From your ferry-side pickup, Epirus's wildest coastlines, deepest gorges, and most iconic monasteries are all within easy driving distance.

25–35 min one way
Drive south along the Ionian coast to Sivota (Syvota), the 'Caribbean of Greece', and the iconic Bella Vraka sandbar between Mourtos and Mega Drepano — turquoise water, pine forests, and seafront tavernas.

60–90 min one way
Continue down the coast to picture-postcard Parga, then visit the ancient Nekromanteion oracle of the dead at the mouth of the mythical Acheron river and wade through the emerald springs at Glyki.

1.5–2 hr one way
Take the A2 Egnatia motorway east to Ioannina lake city and continue into the Pindos mountains for the stone villages of Zagori, the dramatic Vikos gorge, and arched Ottoman bridges.

2.5–3 hr one way
Follow the A2 Egnatia east to Kalambaka and the otherworldly cliff-top monasteries of Meteora — a UNESCO World Heritage day trip from Igoumenitsa port, easy on the modern motorway.
Igoumenitsa port handover
Share your ferry name, route (Ancona, Bari, Venice, Brindisi, Corfu), and ETA so the Karpadu agent can meet you at the right gate the moment you roll off — no taxis or shuttles needed.
A2 Egnatia tolls
The A2 Egnatia motorway east towards Ioannina, Meteora, and Thessaloniki has several toll stations. Keep small change or a card ready; rates are modest and roads are excellent.
Coastal road to Sivota & Parga
The Ionian coastal road (EO19) is scenic but winding. Allow 30 min for Sivota, 60–90 min for Parga, and watch for tour buses on tight bends in summer.
Mountain roads to Zagori
Routes to Zagorohoria, Vikos gorge, and Papingo are steep and narrow. Fuel up in Ioannina, avoid driving them after dark in winter, and consider an SUV for snowy months.
Albania border – check before crossing
Most rental contracts do NOT allow crossing into Albania (Saranda, Butrint). Confirm in writing before you head north on the EO6 — unauthorised border crossings void all insurance.
Cash for villages & monasteries
Cards work in Igoumenitsa, Ioannina, Parga, and Meteora, but bring small cash for Zagori kafenia, monastery entrance fees, mountain tavernas, and rural fuel stations.
When you choose Premium Insurance (Zero Excess), the rental supplier waives the security deposit entirely. You can pay by debit card or cash at the Igoumenitsa port desk — no credit card needed. Everything is covered directly through the supplier, so there's no 'pay and claim' process when you rent a car after arriving from Italy, Corfu, or Paxos.
It's real, direct insurance from the car rental company in Epirus. Unlike many brokers who sell 'reimbursement' policies requiring a credit card deposit upfront, our Premium Insurance means zero deposit and zero paperwork in the rare event of damage on the A2 Egnatia, Zagori mountain roads, or the long drive to Meteora.
All pickups and returns happen at Igoumenitsa port only — the main international ferry terminal for arrivals from Italy (Ancona, Bari, Venice, Brindisi), Corfu, and Paxos. We do not currently offer pickup at the city center, hotels, or other towns. Your Karpadu agent meets you kerbside outside the terminal as soon as you exit the ferry — no shuttle bus required.
Not at all. Igoumenitsa receives overnight ferries from Italy at all hours and our Karpadu partners cover early-morning and late-night handovers when arranged in advance. Just share your ferry ETA at booking and the agent will be waiting at the port gate, day or night.
Most rental contracts do NOT allow you to take the car onto ferries to Corfu, Paxos, Italy, or any other destination. The car must stay on the Greek mainland. If you plan to ferry across, return the car at Igoumenitsa port before boarding, or contact us to confirm any exceptions in writing.
Standard rental contracts do NOT permit crossing into Albania (Saranda, Butrint, Gjirokastër). Some suppliers may allow it with prior written permission, extra insurance, and a Green Card fee. Always confirm before you head to the EO6 border — unauthorised crossings void all insurance immediately.
Yes. Many of our Epirus partners allow one-way rentals — for example, pick up at Igoumenitsa port and drop off at Ioannina Airport (IOA), Preveza Airport (PVK), Thessaloniki Airport (SKG), or Athens Airport (ATH). Select different pickup and drop-off locations when searching and the exact one-way fees, if any, will be shown.
For the coastal road to Sivota, Parga, and the easy A2 Egnatia drive to Meteora, a compact or economy car is perfect and fuel-efficient. If you plan to explore Zagorohoria, Vikos gorge, Papingo, or remote Pindos villages on winding mountain roads, a small SUV or crossover gives more confidence — especially in spring and autumn.
From Igoumenitsa port: Sivota is 25–35 minutes, Parga 60–90 minutes, Preveza 1.5 hours, Ioannina 1.5 hours via the A2, Zagorohoria/Vikos 1.5–2 hours, and Meteora (Kalambaka) about 2.5–3 hours. The A2 Egnatia motorway makes east-bound trips fast and scenic.
Book in minutes, choose flexible insurance with no deposit, and collect your car the moment your ferry from Italy, Corfu, or Paxos docks at Igoumenitsa.
