Ikarian village festivals (panigiria) run from June to September and locals dance until dawn. Many of the biggest panigiria are in villages near Evdilos — drive home carefully and watch for pedestrians.
North coast beach parking
Parking at Mesakti, Livadi and Nas fills fast after 11:00 in July and August. From Evdilos you're close enough to arrive before 10:00 or visit late afternoon.

Not at Agios Kirykos, no: handovers are at Evdilos port only. If your ferry from Piraeus or the eastern Aegean lands there, a local taxi or KTEL bus crosses the island in about 50–60 minutes. Most Piraeus, Mykonos, Naxos, Paros, Syros, Tinos and Samos (Karlovasi) routes dock at Evdilos directly.
Returns must be at Evdilos port — the same location as pickup. You cannot take Ikarian rental cars onto the ferry to other islands or the mainland. If you plan to visit Fourni, Samos or Mykonos next, return the car before boarding your ferry.
For the paved roads to Armenistis, Christos Raches, Therma and Agios Kirykos, a compact car is perfect and easier in the narrow lanes. A small SUV is steadier on the steep climbs to Nas, Karkinagri and Manganitis. Either way, keep to asphalt — the car can go anywhere that is paved, and that covers every route here.
From Evdilos: Armenistis and Mesakti 15–20 minutes, Christos Raches 20–25, Nas and the Halaris gorge 30–40, Theoktistis monastery 40–55, Agios Kirykos and Therma 55–70 via the central mountain road, Drakano and Faros 75–90, and Karkinagri about 80–95 minutes.
No tolls anywhere on Ikaria. The main rules to know: speed limits are 50 km/h in villages and 70–90 km/h on open roads, headlights must be on in the central mountain tunnels, and goats often appear on rural roads — drive slowly through bends.
